The Green Build Hub

Marjolein Posted - October 29th 2012

The Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust will shortly be building their exemplar Green Build Hub at the Eden Project. It will be a test bed and living laboratory for all that is best and most innovative in sustainable building, including replaceable wall sections, living roof panels and numerous renewable energy installations. All of which they will be monitoring and displaying to the public.

This is a big step closer to reality with resounding backing from Cornwall planners and the wider community.

The Great Recovery Design Workshop is coming to Cornwall

Marjolein Posted - October 17th 2012

Get your hardhats ready…

The Royal Society of Arts has recently launched the Great Recovery programme, which aims to encourage designers to minimise waste from the products they create. The initiative is being led by RSA design directors Sophie Thomas and Nat Hunter, and will play out through a series of workshops, as well as a £1.25 million Technology Strategy Board competition, which will fund feasibility studies into redesigning products.

SSE Graduation Ceremony

Marjolein Posted - October 11th 2012

Last Friday, the Cornwall School of Social Entrepreneurs Graduation Ceremony took place at the Eden Project. At the event the 18 graduates, who are based across Cornwall from Bude to Penzance to St. Ives, told their stories behind and about the businesses that they have or are in the process of founding. If you’re not familiar with the SSE; the SSE provides training and opportunities that enable people with entrepreneurial ideas to achieve positive change in their communities.

Leap is happy to be involved for over four years now, providing consultation support to graduates, designing SSE’s booklets, leaflets and other communication materials. Having recently joined Leap, I come away from the event feeling very inspired by all 18 entrepreneurs and above all, SSE’s energy behind this. There are a lot of people working very hard out there to bring a positive change in their communities. I would like to thank the Cornwall SSE staff, graduates & The Eden Project for a very inspiring morning.

Change is happening

Marjolein Posted - October 9th 2012

Behind the scenes here at Leap, lots of changes have been happening and will continue to happen. Our biggest happening has been to introduce a profit share to the team which has resulted in a whole new dynamic for Leap as we push forwards with various plans and projects.

Chris, our studio coordinator will be leaving us this week for a promising future with Duchy Timber. Chris has a track record of successful accomplishments within Leap and we are sure that he will make a valuable contribution in this future role and we wish him all the best.

Charlie shares her top 10 Marketing ideas to help improve small business sales and customer relationships.

Charlie Posted - August 24th 2012

1. Get a plan together

This may sound obvious, but it’s surprising how many companies don’t have a well thought-out marketing plan. There’s nothing wrong with being spontaneous, but the lack of focus can often lead to mixed messages as well as blowing the budget within the first few weeks! Take the time to really think about what you want to achieve and explore all of the avenues you can take to do this, setting objectives.

Claire leaves us for saltier pastures

Charlie Posted - August 22nd 2012

Claire England, our very first and very talented creative has now left Leap for a promising future with Seasalt- a Cornish success story  producing gorgeous organic and locally inspired clothing. Claire will be adding her creative flair to their catalogue, brochures & website. So as sad as we are to say ‘goodbye’, we know that she will be in her element : )

Back in the day when Matt created Leap it was a one man band chaos machine (his words!), Claire was his very first employee recruited straight from Uni and UCP- Unlocking Cornish Potential. As a junior, she came on Leaps ( excuse the pun) and bounds, to the point where she was managing her own client accounts and created some fantastic work which we are very proud of with Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornish Holiday Cottages, Marbel to name but a few. In the pic above you’ll see Claire beautifully modelling one of the bags she designed as a stock item for jute company Go Jute.
